Performers
- Deepti Navaratna. Carnatic classical vocal music. Will need mridangam accompaniment and a Carnatic violin player (if possible) for this performance.
- Stanley Scott. North Indian vocal classical/Bengali folk. I’ll try to arrange for accompanists (tabla and harmonium).
- Chad Hamill. North Indian classical vocal music. I am in need of tabla accompaniment (preferably someone who can play vilambit ektal).
- Utpola Borah. Hindustani classical, Folk and Sufi songs of Assam. I will need a tabla player for Hindustani recital.
- Matthew Allen with David Nelson. I’d like to perform an original composition for piano & mridangam & voice (and perhaps another instrument or two). The music I’m writing these days is informed in various ways by karnatak music & I think it would go nicely on a south asia theme concert.
- Tim (T M) Hoffman. Vocal (khyal, thumri, bhajan; Uttar Pradesh folk; can also use Japanese classical poetry in these forms), Japanese koto and shakuhachi (which are now officially recognized in India as instruments of Hindustani classical music). I would appreciate being able to work with any accompanists - tabla, pakhawaj, mridangam, violin, sarangi…
- David Trasoff. North Indian instrumental—sarode.
- Hans Utter. Sitar, with Nasir Syed, focusing on our gharana’s style.
- Peter Manuel. A short sitar item and/or accompaniment to kathak.
- Garrett Field (Karnatak mandolin) and Aaron Paige (mridangam). We would love to perform some South Indian Karnatak music (alapana, kritis and kalpanasvaram improvisation). Also, if you are a Karnatak musician looking for accompaniment we’d be happy to help. My email is gfield@wesleyan.edu
- Joseph Getter. South Indian flute. I’d love to play karnatak music with others or solo; also interested in accompaniment of any dancers, as well as playing non-traditional, fusion, and/or pop music.
- Allyn Miner. A sitar piece. Looking for tabla accompanist. Open to playing duet or ensemble as well.
- Matt Rahaim. Hindustani vocal music (Khyal; student of Vikas Kashalkar), in search of (tilwada-friendly?) tabla player.
- Amie Maciszewski, Sangeet Millenium Ensemble. A sitar piece, solo, duet or ensemble (with other instruments and/or voice). Can do a thumri-style sitar-vocal piece and/or collaborate with Uttar Pradesh or Bengali songs as well. Looking for tabla player.
- Regula Qureshi. I’d love to join any Hindustani/Pakistani music making on the sarangi, accompanying singing or tabla playing, or with reciting Urdu poetry.
- Tom Ross. Some bistar in the style of my teacher, Amir Khan. Also a Karnatak piece as taught by T Viswanathan. No acc necessary.
- TS Venkatachalam. A Bharatanatyam composition accompanied by Aaron Paige (Mridangam), Joseph Getter (Flute), Garrett Field (Mandolin), and Nattuvangam (TBA). I’m looking for an experienced Karnatak vocalist to join the ensemble. Please contact Anand at tsv.anand@gmail.com
- Raphaelle Brochet. Carnatic vocal and solkattu; I’d love to play with others - it’s more friendly no
Tarikitathaka tom. - Justin Scarimbolo. Sitar.
